What form should I fill for my son to bring him to the UK?

Post by MysticaUk2012 » Sun Aug 16, 2015 12:01 pm

Hi! I obtained my British citizen year 2012. I have a son out of wedlock back in the Philippines. He is 23 years old, has partner and 2 small children aged 4 and 1. He is not married so I am thinking what is the best visa form to get for him in order to bring him over from the Philippines. Is it advisable for him to apply alone first and get her family afterwards or apply for all of them at the same time? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

What visa does he qualify for? He will have to look at the Tier 4 and Tier 2 visas to see if he meets the requirements.

He cannot apply to come to the UK based on your British citizenship, if that is what you are thinking of.

+1

He'll have to qualify on his own merits.

I see! Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned I am British passport holder already. I shall look into it! Cheers!

Yes, but your citizenship doesn't help him in anyway.

Be aware though that Tier 4 (Student) is very expensive (tens of thousands of pounds) and Tier 2 would need an approved sponsor and your son would need to be highly skilled of in an occupation thats on the shortage list...

What about bringing him over to visit then find a job and sponsor? He is a car mechanic, is there's a demand for this skills? Cheers!

He is unlikely to get a Tier 2 sponsored work visa as car mechanics are not considered to be skilled to 'graduate level.'
