Switch to Tier1 General

Post by tareq » Sun Aug 23, 2015 2:05 pm

Hi,

I know that is it not possible to apply for Tier1 visa anymore but what about switching from Tier 2 General (skilled worker) to Tier1 General as I am already in the UK ?

There is no longer an option to apply or switch to Tier 1 General. This route for new applications, both from within or outside the UK and any further extensions has now been closed. From 2018, this route for those who are on it, will also no longer be able to apply for ILR.

Well, it is still possible to apply for Tier 1 visa (Enterpreneur, Investor, exceptional talent)

You cannot switch to Tier 1 (General) from any immigration category, for the reasons already spelled out above.

You were told about all this 4 months ago too.

Tier 1 General is dead, it's is an ex-visa, deceased, shuffled it's mortal coil, bereft of life it rests in peace and has joined the choir invisible.

It has ceased to be.

Thanks all. Yes I asked similar question few months ago but saw some page says that you can switch to tier1 after 3 months of being in the UK and can do it until April 2016 or so. that's why I asked again.

The point is: is there anyway that i can work in the UK without the whole sponsorship thing ?

£200k is what you need available to invest in a business/start a business in order to qualify for the Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa.

No other route except student if that is what you want to do but working will be an issue.
