Applying for T2 G after cooling off with same sponsor

Hi,

My husband is on tier 2 ict from July 2011 here in the UK. Our extended visa expires on July 2016. And we will be taking the 12 month cooling off period. Can he apply for tier 2 general after July 2017 with the same sponsor who has sponsored his current tier 2 ict visa?

The 12 months is counted from the date he leaves the UK, not the date of existing Tier 2 visa expiry. So the answer depends on when he leaves the UK.
