Easiest English test? (for Tier 1 Dependant ILR application)

Post by GO61 » Fri Jul 03, 2015 11:01 am

Hi All

I'm currently on Tier 1 General and my spouse is my dependant. I will have completed 5 years continuous residence in the UK by May 2016 and will both apply for ILR.

As far as I'm aware, the dependant needs to pass English test for ILR (alongside Life in the UK test), even though it wasn't required for extensions. So he will take an English test

There's a page as below, which says you need to have B1,B2,C1,C2 .
https://www.gov.uk/english-language

But also, there's below list of approved tests, but on this list there's A1 and A2 levels on there too.
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... s_v4_0.pdf

* So I'm a bit confused. So lets's say, is IELTS Life Skills A1 enough or not?

* Also, to your knowledge, which of the test qualifications on the list is easiest? (as my spouse's English is not advanced)

* Lastly - I had proven my English on my initial and extension applications but it was BULATS test which is no longer on the list of approved test. I suppose I don't have to take another test as my 2010 BULATS test was accepted on my previous applications?

Thank you!

For ILR, you require B1 level. ILR is unlikely to be successful if you submit an A1.

I cannot answer you other questions.
