Spouse Using Savings alone to meet the financial requirement

Post by leotam » Tue Oct 20, 2015 9:36 pm

Hi all,

My wife and son will need to renew/extend their spouse/dependant visas in a few months (2.5 years)

In regards to the financial requirement:

I am self-employed and my account is so messy that I don't even want to put that down on the application form.

Can I use Category D - Savings - alone to fulfil the financial requirement ?
I am aware that I will need a substantial amount of saving - £72,000 (according to my calculation) - to meet the requirement for spouse + 1 dependant child.

However, my father (not in the UK) is willing to give me this amount of money as a gift. So that wont be a problem.

Can I use the Savings alone to meet the financial requirement without showing them my employment (even though I do have a job) ?

I will ask my father to write a letter to state this is a gift,
Will home office ask for additional proof in regards to this ? e.g. my dad's bank statement

Many thanks in advance.

Tam

You need to have had the savings in an accessible account for at least 6 months. He can gift it, but you would still need 6 months in your/wifes account. Yes, HO could ask for documents showing proof of funds origin.

Third party support from family/friends is not permitted anymore for a spouse visa, this was stopped a couple of years ago already.
