Informing UK authorities about renunciation....

Post by 134523452 » Fri Oct 23, 2015 12:13 pm

I became British two years ago and now I have renounced my other citizenship. Whats the procedure for informing UK authorities about renunciation of second citizenship?

I contacted Passport Office but they said they do not deal with this information. Well, I remember its the passport office who requested to see my other passport when I applied for the first British passport.

I emailed UKBA few weeks ago and haven't heard anything back. Its difficult for me to call them and stay on the line for half an hour as my 12 hour a day job does not allow staying away from the desk for too long.

Why do you think there is a requirement to inform HO?

Applying for your first British passport and submitting your foreign passport is irrelevant.

ah, Ok. Thanks for the info. I thought because home office knows that I have dual citizenship I need to inform them when something changes.

No need to do anything. Your other nationality (or not) is irrelevant if you are British.
