How long wife can stay outside of UK

Dear All,
May be this question has been asked few times but policies are changing quite often so could some one please answer or provide the link would be great.

I am British citizen and holding British passport. My wife was here on my sponsorship and she is now outside of UK for few months around 5 months. I would like to know how long she can stay outside of the UK on this spouse status?

Absences should be limited and for good reason. When she gets to the ILR stage, she will have declare all absences that are 6 months or more.

You will also need to keep evidence of subsisting marriage and cohabitation documents. Also keep record of all communications while she is away.
