Two visa at same time

Post by gpahuja » Tue Dec 01, 2015 1:49 pm

Both myself and my wife are currently working out of London on Tier 2 ICT visa. My assignment is ending in next couple of weeks (visa is valid till Jan 2017) while my wife assignment is till August 2016 (visa is valid till August 2016).

I want to stay here in UK with her till March 2016 and can get sabbatical from my company.

Is it possible for me to switch to dependent visa / visitor visa while I am in UK?

Also, will my work permit will still remain valid in case I get another assignment from my company?

Can you please guide me on this issue.

1. Dependant leave to remain - Yes, visitor visa - No.
2. No.

Thanks @sushdmehta for prompt reply.
What I understood is that I cannot get visitor visa while I am on UK but i can get it if I go to home country (India in my case) and can come back.

But I want to retain my tier 2 work permit also as I am expecting to get an UK assignment later next year.
Is this possible by any mean?

@sushdmehta,

if @gpahuja manages to get a "Dependant leave to remain" .
He would be able to work with his dependent visa, if he gets an assignment later in the year right ?

Yes he would. The OPs existing visa will cease once he switches to dependent. He cannot hold two visas.
