NHS Penalty

Hi guys
I have got some problem
Received a penalty charge from NHS due to not paying prescription charges.
Its a mistake as pharmacist say if you can qualify tax credit and did not ask for certificate.
Would it have any impact on naturlization application that im applying in few months time.
Penalty charges is £80 and have to pay perscription as well.

What is the name of the penalty?
Did it involve a court appearance?

It may have an impact, especially if within 12 months of any application for privilege of citizenship.
The event should be declared on the application.

You may be able to appeal such a penalty as per NHS Act 2006 which states (sect 193, subsection 8 )

(8)But a person is not liable by virtue of a penalty notice— (b)to a penalty charge, or a further sum by way of penalty, if he shows that he did not act wrongfully, or with any lack of care, in respect of the charge or payment in question

However if such a penalty really was incurred then it is advisable to declare it on application form.

P.S. If you have a NHS exemption card & it expires I think you have to ask your GP to apply for another on your behalf.
If you have one & change address you can contact the NHS BSA to update your details.

No I did not have NHS exemption card.
I just wrongly believed that I may would qualify for tax credit but I did not..
Just an ignorance and stupid mistake .
How can I appeal and what are the chances?
If lost appeal what would be consequences?
If I pay penalty and declare on application form would it have any negative impact on natnionality?

I have paid the penalty
Lady over the phone told me if you pay in full we will close your file and there won't be any record.
I asked her is it criminal offence and she said no.
What is my position now?
