Tier 2 - Redundant - options?

Post by Kamal123 » Tue Dec 15, 2015 2:18 pm

Hello, I have been in the UK almost 8 years after doing my Bachelors and then Masters. I have been working for my current company for little over 2 years and now have been confirmed for redundancy. I realize I will have 60 days from when company informs UKBA and they write to me.

I wanted to ask, what options do I have? I have been in touch with countless companies who want me to come in for interview but then back off when they realize they will have to sponsor me. I have almost given up hope on finding a company who would sponsor so any ideas are welcome.

Tier 2 G with a new sponsor is probably the only option you have unless you have a spouse/partner on ILR or one who is British or on any other PBS visa.

Have you contacted companies on the approved Tier 2 Sponsor list, see here (click)

Thank you for your replies.

T1 Ent. - I do not have access to that amount of funds and I believe you can not work.

T2 G - No company really wants to take them on - the companies are on the list but its either 'we have run out of licenses' or 'this job will not satisfy labor market test'.

I was wondering if anyone has detail about T1 Emerging leader. I would fall in the engineering field, I was wondering if there might be a chance there.

Also, having lived here 8 years with qualifications within a sector UK needs people and no criminal record, could I try for ILR (i know it needs to be 10 years legal residence if you go by text book).

Thanks

On the basis of long residence, your application will be refused because you do not qualify for ILR long residence. The requirement is to have 10 years (less 28 days) legal residence from date of first entry to the UK.

Yes, HO go according to the text book, there is no discretion.
T1 Emerging leader
Which visa is this and can you provide a link? Unless you mean Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa (click), which is not easy to get. Just being qualified is not sufficient. You don't say what field you have studied so difficult to advise.

Regarding your employment search, are you maybe aiming too high? Maybe if you lower your expectations slightly, you will have more success.

Thankyou CR001

You are right about the text book. I however know some barristers who can push the limits.

In terms of job search, I did start high but now I am looking for all over the UK really and am stunned as to how many companies have said no. For the exceptional talent the cap has never reached so maybe there is hope.

Anyone knows how long UKBA takes to write to you after the company has informed them?

It still won't guarantee success or anything if 'they push the limits'. Rules are rules and barristers are not above the rules and with the fees they charge, you will end up financially drained (I work in the legal field, their fees are huge).

You have not mentioned the skills/job/industry sector you are in and if it is that 'needed in the UK' and of such a skills shortage, I fail to see how you have not been able to secure alternative employment.

Yes you are right. I am in engineering, just recently i put together a file with about 8-10 emails for interviews and then application retracted once I mentioned sponsorship. I tried to get some more time from my company showing them its not easy via that file but they said they can not do that as it would be unfair to everyone else being made redundant.

To anyone who reads this and is in similar position, do check out Australia subclass 189 and 190 as alternative.
