Extend Ancestry Visa

Post by kerryh » Wed Dec 16, 2015 12:57 pm

Can someone please help me. I have an Ancestry visa which expires 1.1.2018 however I need more than 2 years on my visa for the work I do. I fall short of ILR application by 6 months so will need to extend my ancestry visa anyway. Is there anything to stop me applying 2 years early for an extension of ancestry visa??? please help someone.

Thanks Sushdmehta for your reply. When you say 'NO' do you mean there is nothing to stop me from applying early as long as I satisfy section 189, which I do.

Sushdemhta yes I have read No.189 but it doesn't provide details about whether I can apply 2 years before my current visa expires.

Is there anything to stop me applying for extension early? I understand that the 5 years will run from application date not the end of first visa expiry.

your help is greatly appreciated as I need to sort this asap.

You can apply for an extension at any point as appropriate.

CR001 thank you so much for your reply. So I am going to go and do one day premier service which is going to cost £1k so they wont say I cant extend as I still have 2 years left on my visa??

You can provide reasons/additional information in the relevant section of the form.

Just curious, what field do you work in that you require 2 years validity on a visa?
