Valid UK Visa in an expiring SA passport

Post by Mrsbrzr » Mon Dec 28, 2015 8:56 pm

Hi all

I am currently employed on a Tier 2 Spousal Visa but my passport is almost expiring. Am I still allowed to continue my employment whilst awaiting my new passport, and what happens if it expires while I wait for the new one? Will this affect my current employment at all? Should I notify my current employer?

Keep in mind my tier 2 has not expired yet.

I hope someone can help.

Your Tier 2 does not expire with the Passport. Your visa conditions continue while you apply for a new SA passport. You will need to inform HO of your new passport details and might have to apply to transfer your visa (not 100% sure though).

Hope you don't wait to long for Home Affairs to issue your new SA passport

Transfer of visa on new passport is an optional thing. It's not mandatory. If you don't wish to transfer, you have to carry both old and new passport whenever you travel.

Is your "visa" a vignette affixed to your passport or a BRP?

Hi

Thank you for all your replies. The visa is a vignette inside my passport.
