Hi I am looking for some information regarding new good character
I came to uk in 2005 on visitor visa
And left country and came back again in 2007 on visitor visa again
And then become overstay
But in February 2009 I got married and got an eu family member visa in Dec-2009
After spending 5 years I apply for eea4 /permanent resident and got eea4 approved in Feb 2015
Now it's the time for naturalisation
I have no criminal history no points on license
Just been overstay
Application says pls enter the date when u came first time in uk
2005
This is a known entry by ukba
Does my 10 years start from 2005 or its start when granted the visa in 2009 .
I mean do i need to stay 10 years legally to apply for naturalisation as I was overstay,or my 10 years start when I came first in the country.
This is what the guideline says
9.5 Illegal Entry
In circumstances where an applicant entered the UK illegally, an application for citizenship should normally be refused for a period of 10 years from the date of entry, if it is known. If it is not known, the period of 10 years starts from the date on which the person first brought themselves to or came to the attention of the Home Office.
