Urgent - Change of name

Hope all of you are well.

I need some urgent advice on my case and I really appreciate your assistance.

I got my ILR last year in the first week of Feb 2015. Now I know that I am eligible to apply for citizenship this feb 2016 and I do complete all the requirements for this. However there is an issue related to my name. I have change my first name through deed poll last week. In this case please let me know what should I do.

Do I now send an ntl form and get a new biometric card and then apply for citizenship or shall I just apply for citizenship and send my dead poll certificate with it?

I am really frustrated since someone told me that I have to send an ntl form and it might take six months for ukba to get back to me and then I should apply for nationality. I don’t see the point of doing this since in about 3 weeks’ time, I’ll be eligible to apply for citizenship

no. my foreign passport is in my old name. its the same name that i have got on ILR resident card. i only have got the deed poll certificate with my new name.

my plan is to renounce my previous nationality and just keep the uk passport

HO expect to be advised within 3 months of a name change.
if you apply for citizenship (soon) then I see no real need to change BRP.

HO will be more concerned about names on valid passports.

right now my foreign passport and brp card has the same name. now if i apply for naturalization and send the deed poll then i get naturalizaqtion certificate in new name. however what should i do then to get this same name on uk passport?

i am told by a lawyer the passport has to match any previous passport of any other country. however what if i renounce my previous nationality and passport?

That is fine.
If you renounce your other nationality your foreign passport will be (or should be) officially cancelled.
(Make sure it is).

There is no need to submit cancelled passports with the British passport application;
only valid, unexpired passports have to be submitted to UK authorities at HMPO.

one quick question

am i ok just sending the deed poll certificate with citizenship application or do i go for ntl form first to get it chnage on ilr resident card and then apply for citizenship?

ntl route is pointless and i understand that since i am applying for citizenship application very soon. i am just confused since i got told by ilr helpline not to go for ntl and send the deed poll with naturalization application but citizenship helpline said that i might be better off going through ntl.

please advise
