How to stay legally in uk

Post by CR001 » Tue Jan 12, 2016 2:00 pm

You will need to provide more information about yourself and your family to get any advice.

People on visitor visas are not able to switch to other categories within the UK.

If it's all above board and proper you can marry but be wary of this being perceived as a sham marriage.

You can't do anything on a visit visa though, it's not possible to switch in country.

You won't be able to marry (even if genuine) as you have to give 28 days notice to an approved Registrar and they have to inform HO about foreign citizens wishing to marry. The notice period can then be extended to 70 days for HO to investigate and interview you/proposed spouse.

You will still need to leave the UK to apply for a spouse visa.

If this is a UK visit visa you will have had to prove your connections to home & your intentions to return home.

If you do not exit UK on time you will not be helping your case for any future visa applications.

If you need to visit your sick relative again the only real route open to you is by visitor visa so you will need to keep a clean immigration history for that reason.
