BRP needed?

I am currently in the UK and my non-EU/UK passport will expire in 6 months. It has my VISA stamp and now wondering if I am required to apply for a BRP or not if I will apply for a passport renewal?

Not required unless you plan to change jobs for which you will require a BRP.

And if you travel, carry both passports.
