Child passport Grandparents- maternal/paternal -implications

Post by deepktm » Mon Jan 18, 2016 4:08 pm

Hi all,

I wanted to know if there is any significance for future of choosing between maternal and paternal grandparents of my baby in the application form.

I am applying for my child who was born in UK after both me and wife got ILR. Both maternal and paternal grandparents are non-British/Non-EU (no link to any ancestry). Currently I have filled my wife's name as mother/parent 1. Therefore, grandparents will be maternal.

If there is any significance in future (immigration privileges), then I want to put my name on baby's father/parent and put paternal grandparents (my parents).

1. One of my concern is - I intend to apply for ILR for my parents (baby's paternal grandparents) in future.
2. Second concern is more historical - if this information forms basis for identifying who are baby's grandparents (genealogical?), then I want it to be paternal (as baby's surname is from paternal grandparents).
3. Can I mix and match - put maternal now, and put paternal in second baby application :) (if we are blessed with one)

Or it could just be insignificant?
I hope this question still informs some of us curious ones, and we are not wasting time?

Many thanks,

Deepak

Grandparents details not required.

1. One of my concern is - I intend to apply for ILR for my parents (baby's paternal grandparents) in future. Are the grandparents already in the UK on some visa? The UK does not permit chain migration and the adult dependent relative visa is almost impossible to get.

2. Second concern is more historical - if this information forms basis for identifying who are baby's grandparents (genealogical?), then I want it to be paternal (as baby's surname is from paternal grandparents). It is a passport application, grandparent details are not required and are not recorded on the childs records.

3. Can I mix and match - put maternal now, and put paternal in second baby application :) (if we are blessed with one) It is not relevant.

Or it could just be insignificant? Yes. The form is used for ALL British citizens, by birth or naturalisation/registration.
I hope this question still informs some of us curious ones, and we are not wasting time?

Deepak
There is no benefit at all to your parents or your spouses parents by naming them on the form.
