Travelling to India from London - Indian Passport Expiry

Hi All,

I am in a bit of a tight spot & am really worried about this & would really appreciate some advice.

I live & work in London with ILR (valid for 8 years) & an Indian Passport which is valid only until 31-Aug-16. I am scheduled to fly to India for my wedding in a week & am returning in mid-February. Will this be a problem considering I will have just over 6 months of validity left on my Indian passport when I arrive in India & return to London? 01-Mar-16 is the point at which I will have exactly 6 months left, but I am returning to London a couple of weeks before that.

I will renew my Indian passport after I return to London.

Any information / reassurance would be greatly appreciated!

Not an issue. There is no requirement to have X validity on your passport. It must be valid on the date of entry.

Don't know what the Indian requirements are as I am not of that nationality.

But you will have no issues returning to the UK.

'Travelling by air' is different from 'crossing the border'.

You may wish to check any rules on validity that your airline of choice may impose.

But these members did not seem to encounter any problems in that area either:
