Spouse Visa & Language Requirements

Hi everyone. Hope someone here can help me.
I'm in the process of completing a visa application for my wife, but I don't quite understand the language requirements. She's a Tanzanian citizen, but lived in Canada for a number of years & got her university degree for a course taught in English from a university just outside Toronto. She moved back to Tanzania around 2 years ago with her parents. She's actually tri-lingual and absolutely fluent in English, French & Swahili. Clearly & correctly for the visa application she has to prove her knowledge of English, but I can't work out if she needs to take the English language test, or if we're able to go through NARIC & get a statement of compatibility. I think the NARIC route is correct, but it would be greate to confirm with anyone who can provide some assistance.

Is this a spouse settlement visa or a PBS Dependent visa? Unclear as you have posted in the PBS section.

What is your status in the UK (ILR, British, etc)?

I have now moved your topic/thread to the correct forum.

She need to meet the English A1 requirement. Living in Canada is not sufficient.

She can have her degree assessed by NARIC for English Language Assessment.

She also needs to pay the £600 immigration health surcharge before she can submit her application (assuming she is applying from abroad as your post doesn't say).

Yes she is applying from abroad (Tanzania) so she does have to pay the surcharge. My understanding is this is paid before she applies for the visa, not before the language assessment. Is that what you meant?

Yes, the surcharge is paid shortly before submitting the visa application as she will need the IHS reference number for the application form.
