Can I change my employment in the same field?

Hi,
My current employer has sponsored my Tire 2 General Visa valid upto 5 years. Now if I want to change my job, can I do it? if my new employer is ready to sponsor can I switch my job in the same field, without making new application?

You have to make a new application. You cannot transferred an employer sponsored visa to another new/different employer. Your current visa is specific only to your current employer. Tier 2 General is NOT a Tier 1 General and is much stricter than the Tier 1 General visa was.

Your new employer will also have to complete the full and proper RLMT before they are able to issue you with a CoS.

You will also have to pay the immigration health surcharge.

I am confused on getting ILR. My current visa is valid for 5 years. And my salary is 31000. After 5 years completion with the same employer with the same visa, can I apply for ILR? is there a salary exception? My job is not under shortage occupation I guess. Working as Software Engineer.

Also, if my current position changes to one mentioned in COS as if I get promoted, what is that I need to do? as informing HMRC ? or something else??

For ILR, the salary changes from 6 April 2016 is that you must earn £35,000pa. What the changes or rules will be when you get to the point of applying for ILR is a guess.

Not sure about your other questions but I would guess HO would need to be informed of change of job etc.
