2-year child application VAF4A to settle in

Post by greging » Sat Dec 19, 2015 10:42 pm

My 2-year old son is coming to join me in the UK and I am preparing for the VAF4A form on his behalf. I am following the form and it really confused me in clause 1.19. “Have you lived with your sponsor in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership at any time?” Should I say Yes and explain he is my actually son? The same peculiar question repeats in 1.20 which asks if your sponsor currently married to another person? Yes, his mum actually!!! Should I leave 1.19 and 1.20 empty for this case?

You appear to be selecting the wrong option.

Sorry. I am using Appendix 2 (VAF4A) for my little one who is outside the UK. Have I got this wrong? Thanks!

I chose N/A in clause 1.16 and it guided me to 1.18 which I click yes as he will live with me (permanently). But I am really confused in the following two clauses (1.19 & 1.20) which appear to be applicable for a spouse but not a child. Should I leave them alone? Thanks!

Correct form but have you selected "I am under 18 and the sponsor is my parent" ?

Yes. But I am preparing for a hardcopy of appendix 2 which is required in the submission portfolio in conjunction with the online application in China. Thanks!

expiry date for the ILR which doesn't have an expiry date

Post by greging » Wed Feb 17, 2016 8:44 am

my wife applied for a settlement visa. Before making the payment, the system asks for the expiry date of my ILR visa. I got my ILR years ago which doesn't have an expiry date. But the payment won't proceed without putting a date in. what can i do? thanks!

Is this for the NHS Surcharge? If so, you wife should select 'applying alone'.

Thanks for your response. yes you are right. This is about the NHS payment. But my son is applying with her. She may not be able to apply alone for this case, is she? Thanks again!

Each applicant has to pay the surcharge separately. Your child should have their own VAF4A form.

Thanks for your reply. This is exactly what I did. When I make the payment, it requires my expiry date of my ILR. I got my ILR 5 years ago and it was stamp on the passport without an expiry date. It is very different from the ILR nowadays which normally requires an update of photographs in 10 years. I tried to type in NA or unlimited but only numbers are allowed. This really confuses me. Should I put a really large number, e.g. year 2999 for this case? Thanks!

You should not be putting in your details if you have ILR. Your dependents need to 'apply alone'.

Did they choose the correct options?

The NHS surcharge should be calculated on the basis of 33 months.
