Teacher Changing Employers

Post by BMcKinnon » Tue Feb 23, 2016 7:22 pm

Hello,

I am currently sponsored with a school in the UK and have been working for 1 year here. (I have a tier 2 - 5 year visa)

I want to apply for a different school next year, possibly in a different county.

Can I just transfer my visa or will this require a whole new visa and getting sponsored again? If I can do a transfer, how would I go about this?

Thank you in advance for the help!

You cannot transfer your visa to another sponsor.

You will need to apply for a new visa with a new CoS. You will also have to pay the Immigration health surcharge which is £200 per year, payable upfront for the duration of your new visa.

If the OP has been here on a Tier 2 G for 1 year, then he got his visa BEFORE the IHS was implemented in April 2015. Even if he did pay it for the current visa, IHS is payable for EACH application made and refunds for previous payments are very unlikely. It is not HO who is choosing to switch visas.
