Travelling Out

Post by ikhan7 » Thu Mar 03, 2016 4:04 pm

Hi,
I applied for BC on 22nd of Jan 2016 , I have to go out of UK in mid April.
The average processing time for BC the time varies form 3-6 months. So I was wondering if I get response from HO in start of April can I still travel outside of UK?

Thanks

Yes, you can travel. You are only British once you attend the ceremony NOT when you receive the approval letter.

Bear in mind that you have to contact the council and book your ceremony date within 21 days of receiving the approval letter.

Thanks for your response CR001.
One more question , If I attend ceremony after that can I travel without applying for British Passport. Once I return then I can apply for British passport as it take 4-6 weeks. If I can travel on my old (native country ) passport what do I have to show on the way back as I wont have my BRP ,according to new rule I have to return it with in 5 days after attending ceremony. Please clarify.

Thanks

You will have a problem returning as an airline won't allow you to fly if you cannot prove your right to enter the UK.

Passports are currently taking 2-3 weeks.
