English Language requirement for Spouse

Post by maggi » Fri Mar 11, 2016 1:26 am

Hi,
I want to call my wife to UK on family of settled person visa. While reading the English Language requirements, it states in the guide: "You can prove your knowledge of English by passing a test at an approved test centre. You need to get at least CEFR level A1."
Can she give a test which is B1 e.g. life skills B1? Would it also be acceptable if requirement is A1?
I'm just concious that after 5 years when she applies for ILR, (As the requirement for ILR is B1) she may end up giving another test for B1. Why not give B1 now if it covers A1 too.
BR,
H

Yes, she can do B1 as long as it is with one of the approved test providers.

Also remember, we don't know what the English requirement will be in 5 years time. B1 is relevant to ILR now, it very well could change.

Many thanks. Yes you are right. We can't be sure about 5 years time.
