MN1 application - Jersey Travel (could it be an issue?)

Post by jimbulik » Tue Mar 15, 2016 7:33 pm

Dear immigration geeks,

My wife and I settled in the UK early January and applied for our UK born child to be registered as a British Citizen.

He has no other passports as we never got him one of our current nationality.

Obviously he wasn't able to travel outside of the UK, but we did take him to Jersey for a few days for a little holiday.

I did mention this on the MN1 form, because it says outside of UK or British Overseas Territory. And Jersey is not is neither. its a crowd dependency. (However it is inside common travel area, where there is in most cases no need for an id. particularly for a lap infant)

I applied on the 12th of January. With biometrics completed on the 27th of January, but still waiting for the registration.

I have not been contacted by the case worker.

My question is could the fact he went to Jersey for 3 days be an issue here? would he have become subject to immigration control there?

Regards
J.

No, not an issue. Just relax. Unlikely you will be contacted by caseworker.

Thank you very much for your reply. Much appreciated.

One more question, if I may...

The other thing about the application is the following:

We gave our son a shorter version of my last name (older family last name)...
so instead of my Arin-Bulker, we gave him Bulker.

This is his last name in his birth certificate (he was born in London).
So basically it is different to my and my wife's names.

But could this also potentially be a problem and cause a delay of the MN1?

P.S.: I will be changing mine later this year, before I naturalise next year.

Thanks
J.

No issue, as long as the name you put in the form is the same as his birth certificate.
