Jon.Mason wrote:I have considered everyones advice and decided I will just save up and wait for the settlement visa. I was advised that since I am just in the process of changing jobs, to get 6 payslips before I apply.

My wife is also pregnant and the baby is due in September, so I am guessing having a baby is proof of a sustaining relationship?

My current job is a 25k 1 year contract and new job is a 35k permanent contract starting in may so I am guessing I am better off applying in the new year after I have 6 payslips from new job and our baby was born. Any advice or comments?
The financial requirement is here:
https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk/eligibility

£18,600 per year if you’re applying only for yourself
£22,400 per year for you and one child
£2,400 per year for each additional child

The guide to supporting documents is here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... lement.pdf

Bank statements or bank books - Showing what has been paid in and out of an account for at least the previous six months, and naming the account holder. If you have made deposits in your account that are not in keeping with the account history then you may wish to explain the origins and timing of these deposits.

So there isn't any issue with you using a combination of your payslips from your £25k job and your £35k job as long as it is continuous (unbroken) previous six months and the latest payslip should be no later than from 28 days ago. Both jobs meet the criteria so you could apply immediately assuming you can fulfill all the other criteria too.

I understand your frustration - when my wife and I decided to get married in May-15 I wanted to apply in advance so right after the honeymoon I could return with my wife to the UK. The advice was to go first time for the settlement visa and I'm glad I did that (luckily the visa came through pretty quickly).

Taking time to change the names in travel documents also can solve headaches with travelling down the line. No idea about Morocco but in Pakistan changing the passport and ID card to married status is important before applying for the settlement visa to make travel easier in the future.

12 months payslips and bank statements are required if you are using income from two different employers.

Well, rather ironically, the message immediately before mine demonstrates why visitors' visas to visit British Citizen families are so suspiciously regarded!
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
