Suggest start here:Children born to parents who are British by descent have no automatic claim to British citizenship. Applications may be made through entitlement under section 3(2) or section 3(5) if children satisfy the requirements for registration.
Or they may apply at the Home Secretary’s discretion under section 3(1) if there are compelling or exceptional reasons for registering a child as British.
Form MN1 from Gov UK website.sandramck wrote:I can only do it under section 3(2) as I have not lived in UK for 3 years with my daughter I did live in UK growing up which was before her birth and was for 3 years. What Form do I complete thanks for your help is my daughter allowed to reside with me whilst doing this application as I am her only parent here.

As child is already entitled to become a citizen, and its going to be quicker and probably less costly in the long-run, would suggest thinking about that valuable option. (Family settlement path will only, in the end, get you to where you are more or less at already).
Under what provisions were you registered as a British citizen?sandramck wrote:when my brother and I grew up in England as children we didn't have british citizenship and we lived and went to school here before returning to nz
