Thank you for taking the time to read my post, I am hoping someone can answer my question. My husband was granted a spouse visa to the UK in August last year, arriving early Sept, expires May 2018.
2 months after his arrival I was made redundant due to the oil and gas downturn, and since then have had very little work (temping here and there). I am happy to do anything but no companies are interested in oil workers for obvious reasons like they will leave when things pick up! It's not been easy.
My husband however is working (hard) and has done since the week after he arrived, his salary keeps us going, however I am wondering if I (British citizen, born and bred) am able to claim JSA for myself? I've avoided it so that it doesn't affect further visas for my husband but I am keen to know if I am missing out on what I am entitled to? It would be me claiming the benefit but he was granted his visa based on my salary that I no longer make

Before I was paid off in Nov, I myself had earned over £18,600 for the tax year 15/16, however this coming year, if things go the way they are he won't meet the £18,600 by himself. We plan to move city soon to increase my chances of working again, so hopefully this isn't long term, but it's a worrying time all the same.
Can anyone advise?
Many thanks,
Leah
