visa for a baby born in the UK

Hi All,

I'm on tier 2 visa, my wife and I blessed with a baby born in the UK in May. My current visa will expire in Feb 2017 and i'm about to extend it for another 3 years.
we had to travel to our home country in August for a holiday and we decided not to apply for a visa for the baby from UK as we don't want to pay twice. (assuming the baby will get a visa until Feb 2017). i came back in September but wife and baby still there, they are planning to come back once i get my new visa.
1-can we apply for a tier 2 dependent visa for the baby from outside the UK?
2- I will be extending my visa next week, do i need to include wife and baby in the application? wife will apply separately when she gets back.

your help is really appreciated.

1. Yes. Likely that baby's visa will be issued in line with mother, expiring in Feb 2017.

You will have to waste 1 visa fee now.
Either apply for your baby visa now or after your extension, and he/she will get the visa with expiry of feb.
Or extend your visa, and then your wife and baby apply visa from home country, which will reset your wife 5 year counter.

The plan is to extend my visa now and get 3 years (until 2019) so the baby can apply from home country for entry clearance and then wife can apply to extend when she comes back as she already has dependent visa. is that correct?
