german work permits

Post by Winter_Icicle » Tue Apr 13, 2004 6:59 am

i know that this is a long shot, but...

i work in the hospitality industry, and i'm trying to get to germany. several of my company's properties are interested, but they are all intimidated by the process of obtaining a work permit. a few have even suggested that i try obtaining one myself. i've gotten the names of a couple of organizations that assist in obtaining work-permits for americans (i.e. AIPT, DAAD), but these have all proven to be dead-ends. can anyone perhaps point me in another direction?!

The best way would be to contact the German embassy close to you in the USA.

This one place you could look to get in contact with the authorities:
http://www.bamf.de/EN/Startseite/startseite-node.html

http://www.bluecard-eu.de/eu-blue-card-germany/ - this is one type of visa you could use but not sure if your occupation and education would qualify for this option.

And the city that you plan to go to, just search for ausländerbehörde (berlin) and get in touch with them directly.
e.g. https://www.berlin.de/labo/willkommen-in-berlin/

let me warn you, german beuracracy is a nightmare, probably only better than North Korea i would say. they take 6 weeks to respond or to move a inch, so you need to be very very very patient.

best of luck.
