Medical Treatment question for Visitor Visa Application

You need to pay the Dr charges and insist with the GP surgery to do so and get a receipt.

Hello Seniors and Casa,

I'm not sure if i should ask my query here - but i found this place to be very relevant. apologies in advance

I'm asking this behalf of my friend.

His mom had 5 yr multi entry family tourist visa which expired Mar 2017. He wants to apply again but not sure whether to say YES or NO for the query on the application for Medical Treatment. ( note its asking if you had any medical treatment in the UK ). it doesnt say any appointments or gp visit. so he things to say NO because he assumes/believes it to be an GP appointment and not Medical treatment

His mother had an appointment with his GP in 2012 . GP checked BP and confirmed nothing was wrong with her. No prescriptions, no follow up appointments etc. The whole thing was closed after this

GP surgery didnt charge him anything when he asked if he has to pay anything. His GP surgery confirmed they dont charge anything for normal GP visits. He also checked with the business team at NHS England and they too confirmed there is no outstanding payment on his mothers name

this morning he called his GP and insisted to pay the fee but they claim to see no records of his mother and say they cant charge anything as there is nothing to charge against

Issue- If he has to say YES on the application form, he doesnt know the start date and end date of treatment which is a mandatory field on the application form. All he knows is it was in March or April 2012.

also it was just an GP visit and not a treatment as per the query on the application form.

so does he still say YES? if he says YES what does he put on the treatment start and end date

Thanks for your help in advance

A GP is a qualified MEDICAL professional providing MEDICAL treatment/appointments etc.

You seem to be trying to convince your self that a quick visit to the GP doesn't count. IT DOES COUNT. The NHS is charged for EVERY visit to the GP.

Thank you CR001- I understand. I will pass the message to my friend.

so what date does he put if he doesnt know - he knows the month not the date- so if he puts an approx date would the ECO refuse and claim its deception.

he called his GP and they said they dont see any details of his mother on their system.

Any advice will be very helpful

Thanks!!

Hello again seniors,

He confirmed that she attended one GP appt for high fever in 2013 and that was the last time and she wasnt charged even when they wanted and offered to pay

if he says YES to the query on receiving medical treatment in UK, is there a chance of the 10 yr visitor visa getting rejected for his mother ? any advise will be highly appreciated

I've searched this forum and couldnt find a clear cut information and hence i am asking this .

Thanks again

Hi CR001,

Does it mean that when someone has a CSI they should not see their GP first? I thought the whole CSI process started with a first visit with the GP and then follow-up appointments would have to be taken care by the CSI for it not to be on a burden on the NHS...

ANY use of the NHS for free while a visitor must be paid for. The ONLY exceptions is emergency treatment at A&E at the first point of service, meaning if hospitalised, payment must be made.

I've been doing a lot of research on this and found the below website ( gov.uk ). The below was updated April 2016.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... pital-care

on the 3rd paragraph it clearly says the following:

Treatment in A&E departments and at GP surgeries remains free for all.

But once you are referred by your GP or A&E for further tests as outpatients or inpatients then you will have to pay as its not free- thats when you will get in to trouble while applying for standard visitor visas

Also I contacted OVM's at the NHS locally and they confirmed GP's cant deny registering an overseas patient even if they are on visitor visa

If you want proof for this, I can send you another link

Again I am not here to create confusions, I just shared what I found after my search online and speaking to few GP surgeries and OVM's at NHS

Cheers
