I got married to my British husband in Pakistan. He didn't call me there and it's been around one and a half years that I am stuck in Pakistan. It's a long story so to cut it short, though I am unaware of exact circumstances of my husband, I do know that he has a free holding property (a house in London) and he is on benefits. It's his second marriage and when he went to the council for benefits, he didn't declare his marriage with me (according to him there was no option on online form that he could declare his second marriage... yeah, I didn't buy this stupid story). So according to council records, he is still a divorcee.
Our marriage is legally registered in Pakistan as per our family laws. My marriage certificate is attested by Pakistan foreign ministry too.
I don't see any possibility of starting my life with my husband in near or far future (we stayed together for two weeks only)
Now my question is: Does my marriage has same legal status in UK as it has in Pakistan? Can I file a divorce in London through a lawyer?
I've NO WAY to find out this information and I'll be thankful if anybody can guide me. I'm new to this forum.
Thanks!
