Tier 2 Dependent visa

Post by mahe333 » Mon Nov 10, 2014 3:15 pm

Hi Immigration gurus,

I am wiring to enquire about the possible visa category my wife could apply for coming in to the UK. I am currently on Tier 2 General visa sponsored by employer and is valid till 2017. My wife is a doctor in India and she wants to come to the UK to work/study. I was assuming that I could get her on Tier 2 dependent visa but now wondering whether she could get that visa being a doctor. So in order for her to register with GMC she has to clear PLAB1 and 2 exam and for that she has to come to the UK on Business Visitor visa, So the question in picture is

1. What visa category she could apply once after clearing PLAB exams and registered to GMC?
2. Would it be possible for her to get Tier 2 dependent visa where she can work as a Doctor in training/ or should we look into some other categories?
3. If I get her Tier 2 dependent visa then would it be possible for her to come to the UK to write PLAB exams? (instead of getting Business Visitor Visa)

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mahesh

She is eligible to get dependent visa.
She can do all parts of PLAB on your dependent visa.
She can work as a doctor on dependent visa.
She can not work as doctor in training (specialty training ) on your dependent visa. If and when she gets the training, they will issue her a separate COS and she will need to apply her own tier 2 visa from her home country.

Is ILETS exam compulsory for Tier 2 Dependents in order to apply for GMC Registration ?

I am asking this question for my husband, he is a Doctor and has done DNB ENT + 2 years of work experience.
