Tier 2 Main holder death - how long can dependent stay?

Post by vissu » Sun Sep 17, 2017 3:12 pm

Hello,
My colleague is a tier 2 visa holder, and his and his family visa is valid till 2019.
My colleague has passed away.

1. Is the dependent family eligible to stay till 2019? Are they allowed multiple visits during this time?
2. If they are not eligible, they would like visit India to complete final rites, and return here to arrange their affairs. Will this be allowed?

Any answer will be Appreciated.

Not had this question before, however, their status in the UK is directly dependent on the main Tier 2 visa holder.

HO must be informed and their visas will likely be curtailed/cancelled. I would not suggest travelling. Unlikely they can continue staying till their visas expire.

I don't think there are any special provisions in this scenario (as opposed to death of British spouse), but do stand corrected.
