Tier 2 dependent to tier 4 student visa

Post by rainbow1234 » Sat Oct 07, 2017 6:57 pm

Hi,

Iam in UK with tier 2 ICT dependent visa. My current visa is valid till Mar 2019. I wish to take up a post graduate course. While applying for my tier 4 visa, if my visa gets rejected, will my tier 2 dependent visa will also get suspended?

Thanks

You can only apply for a Tier 4 Student visa from your home country. See the following thread:

Why are you applying for a Tier 4 visa? You know you can study with your current visa?

This is the route most ICT dependents take so that the main ICT visa holder can be a Tier 4 dependent for 12 months and then switch to Tier 2 General so that they do not have to serve the 12 month cooling off period outside the UK.

Sure, but wouldn't the best idea be to apply much closer to the expiry of the current leave, over a year from now?

More often than not, migrants use the ICT route simply to get to the UK with their existing foreign company and within months of arriving, start looking at other options to change visas. ICT is relatively easy to get compared to other PBS routes.

The likely reason most apply for dependents to chang category is to free up the main ICT visa holder from the company they are employed and sponsored with and seek other employment and potential sponsor for Tier 2 General.

Not suspended, cancelled. You do have two types of leave at the same time, that would not make sense.
