EEA EFM application for mother of non EU citizen

hi guys,

I need a quick advice! My friend is South African, she is a former spouse of Irish citizen. She has been granted permanent residence. Her south-african mother recently came to the UK and my friend is wondering if she can apply for EEA residence card her and act as her sponsor? Given that she is a former spouse of the EEA citizen.

No, a non EU citizen is unable to sponsor family under the EU rules. Would only have been possible if your 'friend' was still in a relationship/marriage with the EU citizen and the EU citizen sponsored the mother.
