Spousal Visa Extension + Baby Passport

Post by tonton » Tue Apr 24, 2018 10:31 pm

Hi All,
Pardon me if this has been asked before. I have a few questions to ask:

1. My wife and Son are dependents on my status (British Citizen). They were granted 2.5 years on their move here in Dec 2015 and are due an extension in July 2018. Would my wife need to complete an English Test as part of the application as she also did this on the initial application? (She had to do some exams to register with the RCVS to be able to practice here - she is a Vet - would this be an acceptable proof).

2. We are currently pregnant and baby is due this month. Can I be able to apply for the baby's passport soon after birth or we will have to wait for wife to become BC first?

3. Would my first son qualify for a British passport too. He was born outside UK and I was not Naturalised or on ILR at the time.

Many Thanks

Tony

She needs A2 English as a minimum for an extension.

Child's passport is not dependent on your wifes' visa and is separate. Apply when you wish to.

No he does not. He will follow the same path as your wife and will need ILR and then you can register him as British on form MN1.

Another quick question: Am I able to claim child benefit for my first son even if I still need to renew their visas?

Thanks Again.

Hi Guys,

Coming back to the A2 English Test, does it have to be IELTS or it can also be ESOL as well.

Thanks

It must be SELT IELTS from an HO approved test provider who is on the current list. ESOL is no longer accepted by HO since 2015.
