BRP replacement card questions

Post by TheAvocado86 » Tue Dec 18, 2018 9:55 am

Hi all,

I have searched the forum and internet for the below questions, but couldn’t find clear answers. If it has already been answered, please point me to it. Otherwise, I would really appreciate if anyone can answer any of the questions below. Thanks in advance!

1) I have submitted biometrics at the post office. What exactly happens next? Do I receive a letter at the address provided and then go collect the BRP at a post office with this letter? OR do they post the BRP to the address provided?

2) Does the replacement card come with a new number (number at top right corner)? i.e. does every card have a unique number or is the number tied to your identity?

3) I have to apply for a NINO. Do I have to wait for the replacement card to arrive before I can apply for NINO, or can I use the BRP number that was on my previous (stolen) BRP?[/list]

1. Delivered to your address, usually by Dx couriers.

2. New number.

3. Not sure, presumably they will want to see your card to determine your visa status (which is??) and right to work.

Thanks CR001!

I'm on an Ancestry visa, still have all the docs to prove that (except the original BRP that was stolen...). I guess I'll just wait for the new card to arrive.

I used a friend's address (I'm moving around in different Airbnb's whilst looking for an apartment). Do you know if my friend can accept/sign for the delivery or if it has to be signed for by the BRP cardholder?

Thanks!

Should be fine to use friends address and receive it there. Sometimes they do ask for proof of identity though.

You do realise a brp replacement can take a couple of months?

Okay, thanks. Yes, I'm aware of the stated 8 weeks processing time, and that it often can take even longer...
