Applying as Dependent via Ancestry route

Post by scapha » Fri Nov 23, 2018 3:51 pm

Hi all!
Quick life story.
I'm an Australian who did the Youth Mobility scheme, found love during this time, my visa expired so I left on time like a good egg to explore Ireland on a 1 year working holiday authorisation. I am now a newlywed and am looking to get on to my husband's Ancestry visa; he is Canadian.
During my time in Ireland, my husband stayed in the UK on his Ancestry visa so we have been doing long distance but thankfully lots of time together.
His visa is due for renewal some time next year. So my questions are:
  • Would it be best to wait until he can renew his visa, or if I were to apply now would that give me his only remaining time on his current visa (ending April 2019)?

I keep hearing that you send documents together... Considering we are living in separate countries right now (Me in Ireland, him in UK), is this still the case or do we do it separately? if they were to receive my visa application before his, what would happen? Should I just put in the additional notes of our situation?
  • I'm not sure who has done the Visa4UK system lately for Dependents longer than 6 months
but in the Sponsor section, when filling out my husbands' details - for the Country; the help text shows Country deported from - He has never been deported so I would like to think this is an error on UK visa side.. I have tried to call them but they say they can't help with my application... Anyone noticed this or had any dramas when applying?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Thanks!

Most likely as if you apply now, you will only get a visa valid to when his visa expires. But it is up to you when you choose to apply.

You cannot apply in the UK if you are not living in the UK. You would have to apply after he has his extension from a country you are legally resident in, i.e. not a visitor.

Most of us who have been through the immigration journey don't have access to the online forms unless we register for each application out there. You would need to post the exact questions as they appear on the form for anyone to help.

Thanks for your responses. Here is a screenshot of what the online form looks like.

It is likely a simple error.

Hi,

My wife and I are having a similar issue with this section as well.
We are both Australian and have been in Scotland for just under 2 years with youth mobility visas. we are now back in Australia and have started the ancestry visa process to return to the UK.
My ancestry visa application is completed and ready to send away but my wife is having trouble with hers. The sponsors section seems as if it does not apply to us but is a mandatory field. can anybody help with this?
thank you,
Leroy
