Days of absence exceed 450 days

Post by Janex » Wed Jan 09, 2019 5:32 pm

Hello,
I’ve lived in the UK for 7 years and was thinking of applying for naturalization this year, but I am not sure if it makes sense to do it this year or apply in 1.5 years' time as in my case total days of absence are 530.
I was away in 2014 for family reasons for over a year and came back in 2015.
I've read that they might exercise a discreation however it is not 100% certain and you might end up wasting the huge fee. Also for discretion thye ask to prove that you estableished your home, family, employment etc. here. I studied here and been working but dont have my own house or a famaily, what evidence they would need?

Thank you!

There is also a mandatory requirement of being physically present in the UK on the same date 5 years preceding the date of application. If you were not present, your application will be refused.

Presumably you hold ILR or PR?

yes i've had ILR for 5 years now and would have been present in the UK 5 years before if I were to apply now.
