Accommodation Letter from parents- does it need to be stamped?

Post by nikiboj » Tue Jan 15, 2019 5:36 pm

Hello,

I was wondering about the accommodation letter that needs to be provided as proof that the the sponsor's parents allow you to live at their home, does it need to be notarized or stamped by a notary public? Or can it just be signed and dated by the two parents writing the letter and that should suffice

Thanks in advance!

Just signed and dated. If the property is rented, you will require a letter from the landlord giving permission to live there. If the property is mortgaged, a copy of the mortgage agreement or if own outright, a copy of the property deeds.

Is this not supposed to be the sponsor letter?

I thought this had to be on letterhead from the solicitors. When I applied for my husband I got it from the solicitors on behalf of my parents saying they are happy for my husband to join us. My parents had to sign this then.

Can you please clarify?

Notary republics are few and far between in the UK (and VERY expensive compared to the states). Be prepared for a few other differences too!!

As a spouse visa application is reasonably straightforward, most people don't need a solicitor at all. Sounds like they were trying to get more money from you!!!

From what I have seen from lots of research, if you and your sponsor are living with his/her parents all you need is a letter of accommodation from the parents stating that you are allowed to live with them and that there is enough room for you all. Of course, this needs to me accompanied by a housing report from a surveyor to prove it.

Am i correct?

I'm pretty sure the sponsor letter is separate from the accommodation letter, ONLY if your sponsor doesn't own the property in which you are intending to live in. If the sponsor (your husband or wife) does own the property then I'm sure writing that you are allowed to live with them and that there is enough room, in the sponsor letter should suffice.

You don't need a housing report from a surveyor. I've seen probably hundreds of applications approved without it.

In addition to the letter from the parents, you DO need the land registry (which can be purchased online for a nominal fee) to prove the owners are who you say they are. The most recent mortgage statement is also useful to include. This presumes the parents OWN and do not rent their home.

Oh okay, thanks a lot! I thought the land registry is only needed IF the house is already paid off in full. Thanks for the clarification :)

Where do I send my supporting documents? Spouse Visa

Post by nikiboj » Fri Jan 25, 2019 6:07 pm

Hello,

I am applying from the US for a UK spouse visa with PRIORITY SERVICE. I am a bit confused as to where I send my supporting documents?

Is this the correct address?

VFS Services USA Inc.
UKVI Scanning Hub
80 Broad Street
Floor 6
New York, 10004

I thought I needed to send them to Sheffield.

Thanks in advance

i think you should ask from a prominent person or check on google.if you send it to the wrong place it might cause big delays . but normally people submitting it in visa offices like vfs or if your partner or any one here in the uk they can send it to sheffield

Hi again everyone,

The application process has changed as of Nov 2018. You can no longer sends documents directly to Sheffield but need to send them to the scanning hub in NY. My question do I send them to:

UK Scan Hub
750 3rd Avenue
Suite 946
New York, NY 10017

or

80 Broad St Fl 6
New York, New York 10004

They give 2 addresses on the VFS website and I am confused as to where I should send them.
Also, my marriage certificate isn't in A4 size, is it okay if I make copy of it in A4 size and send it?

Do I need property inspection?

Post by nikiboj » Sat Feb 02, 2019 6:50 am

Hi all,

I really need help.

My husband (the sponsor) lives in a big 4 bedroom home with his parents, sister and brother. They all have their own room, including us. If I send the property pictures with the dimensions from the estate agency that sold it to us alongside mortgage agreement, land registry etc. Will that suffice? Or do I have pay for a property inspection?
