Holding leave to remain (BRP), out for almost 2 years, re-entering.

Hello everyone.

I used to live and work in UK and had Tier 2 visa in my passport first. Then I switched the job and got Biometric residence permit that says "Tier 2 General Leave to Remain". At some point I returned to my home country and been out of UK for almost 2 years. My residence permit expires at the end of 2019. Can I re-enter UK for a business trip (only 1 week) or do I need to apply for new visa?

I read somewhere that Tier 2 visa expires in 3 months after I lose the job that is giving me the sponsorship. Obviously I left that job long time ago. But BRP has this separate expiry date which is confusing to me.

Your visa would have been cancelled/curtailed when you left your job and your sponsor informed HO.

HO would have likely sent a letter to your last UK address advising you. But if they knew you left the UK, you might not have been notified.
