Ancestral Visa - What constitutes proof of Commonwealth citizenship

Post by markb97221 » Tue Feb 12, 2019 3:31 am

I meet all the eligibility criteria for an ancestral visa. I was born in South Africa and have US citizenship too. My SA passport is expired and I have no intention of renewing it. What proof do I need to show Commonwealth citizenship, is an expired passport or a birth certificate proof enough?

A valid South African passport as that is what constitutes it. It is the country that belongs to the commonwealth. Note it is a citizen of a commonwealth country and not commonwealth citizenship.

A US passport won't suffice as the US is not part of the commonwealth.
