Spouse Visa savings help....

Post by rwatson » Mon Feb 18, 2019 11:39 pm

Hello everyone,
Need a little help, anyone knowledgeable who can answer some of these questions would be extremely appreciated since this whole process is a little overwhelming.
My wife will be applying for a spouse visa sometime next month, we will be going with the savings route, my questions are as follows:

1) Currently there is around 70K in the savings account for the last 5 & half months, i believe the minimum has to be around 63k. Can i withdraw any of this cash (around 5K) provided it does not fall below the minimum required? Or will withdrawing any amount be deemed as touching the funds and will reset the clock as far as the six month requirement is concerned? Would really appreciate any advice on this since im in desperate need to use some of the cash but not sure if it's allowed at all.

2) Can i apply or submit documents for my wife from my side within the UK? alternatively since she is iranian she would have to submit everything from Iran which could be a lengthy process, if possible to submit from UK would there be any advantage time wise in doing so?

Thanks, any feedback would be great

Touching spouse Visa Savings?

Post by rwatson » Wed Feb 20, 2019 12:36 pm

I'm applying for my wife's spouse visa using savings route and I funded my bank account with a little more than the 62,500 requirement.

Can I withdraw or use the excess within the account provided it does not fall below 62,500? Not sure if the rules are any savings amount should be untouched or if you are allowed to use your account as long as balance doesn't fall below 62,500.. any advice would be appreciated thanks :|

I believe you need to have the required amount (£62,500) in your own named account for a minimum of 6 months. You also need to explain/evidence where the monies came from.

So if you have an amount in excess of the above that shouldn’t be a factor in the decision making process.

Thanks but would I be able to use the excess amount from the account within the 6 months? In other words if I had 70k in the account can I use some of the money for living expenses etc as long as the amount in the account does not fall below 62,500? Thanks, just making sure I can touch my bank account without risking issues

As long as the required amount of savings (£62500) doesn't fall during the last 6 months then there won't be any issue.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
