Spouse short of ILR length of stay limit

Hello everyone,

I have this question bothering me and would appreciate your advise. This is my question:

Early next year will be five years of being on Tier 2 and would qualify to apply for ILR. The issue is my spouse came 10 months after me as a dependent and would not have reached the 5-year duration required to apply for ILR.

Is it possible to extend the my Tier 2 visa for another year to enable my dependent cross the 5-year mark? Below is what I found on the government website: "You can apply to extend your visa for up to another 5 years, as long as your total stay is not more than 6 years."

What date was her initial visa issued?

"You can apply to extend your visa for up to another 5 years, as long as your total stay is not more than 6 years."

This cap only applies to the main Tier 2 visa holder and not to dependents.

Her initial visa was issued in October 2015 and was extended in February 2018 for two years in line with mine.
