Can I pass my British nationality to my son?

Post by absi81 » Mon Apr 08, 2019 9:32 am

Hi,

I am a British citizen who has been just recently naturalized. My family ( my 6 years old and wife) joined me like three years ago ( I was on ILR that time) as my dependants. My son was born outside the UK before I had the ILR ( I was on tier one general at the time) and as stated above he joined me with my wife three years ago. The question is, can I apply to naturalize the kid now?

The child will follow the same path as your spouse. Children born abroad are expected to hold ILR.

Your naturalisation is not retrospective for children born before you became British.
