Help! Mistake on application - will fee be refunded in case of refusal?

Post by Bob456 » Mon Apr 29, 2019 8:54 am

Hi all,

I was just looking over my application and realise I made a mistake in the postcode of one of my previous addresses! I feel so incredibly stupid, especially since I double and triple checked the application before submitting  . I am just wondering what people would recommend. 2 1/2 months after submitting application I get an email from a caseworker asking for my knowledge of English certificate, which they didn't have for some reason, and I sent to them by email.

Also, in case of refusal - will the application fee be refunded?

Many thanks,

No refund, but the error in the postcode shouldn't be an issue.
(Casa, not CR001)
Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

That's a shame about the refund. I will send them a letter about this now.

You appear to be an EU citizen. Did you tick YES to the question asking if you met the English requirement for a previous application after 28th October 2013etc?? That would be why the English test would not have been on the checklist.

This question in your case should have been NO as you would not have needed to meet the English requirement for any application on the EEA/EU rules route.

Did you upload the test and is it one from a HO approved test and test provider on the current list?

Hi, can't see it on my application but pretty sure I clicked no. I did enter my UER of the certificate, which was taken at approved centre. Since I provided my UER, and the certificate wasn't on the document checklist I didn't bring it to the appointment (or maybe at that stage, I hadn't received the certificate yet in the post).

When I got to the stage of the online application where you can review your answers, I couldn't change or see the section about English language requirements. So maybe this was caused by a problem with the website?!

Anyway, I have just sent caseworker and email and hard letter about the postcode typo. Hopefully they can take this into consideration.
