stay abroad for more than 180 days

I am about to enter UK with a tier 2 visa. However, my family are still in Schengen area and will move to UK 2 years later, so I would like to spend as many days as possible with the family in the first 2 years, likely more than 180 days.
My employer is fine with that because I can work from home.
Would that be fine if I will not apply for the permanent residency and just want to keep and renew my tier 2 visa?
As I know, the permanent residency application requires no absence for more than 180 days in any 12 months.

If you hold a tier 2 general, you have a 6 year cap on holding this category of visa.
