Spouse Visa Financial Requirement Calculation

Please can you advise on the below.

I am a British Citizen married to a South African (we live in South Africa)

With regards to the financial requirements (6 months in the UK working to apply for Spousal Visa)

Would I have to earn the full €18600 in 6 months = £3100 per month

Or

£18600 in 6 months = £9300 which would be £1550 per month

There is a lot of confusion as I have been told different things.

It is £18,600 per annum, so your second option. Not sure what is confusin as HO guides and weblink clearly states annual income, which is the only source of information you should use.

Thank you - I am on a UK group on Facebook and they all seem to tell me this. I have not seen such on the Gov.uk which is why I wanted to clarify.

I suggest not listen to all the advice on social media. I myself have had to correct many members giving woefully incorrect advice on an SA expat FB page.

You and your partner must have a combined income of at least £18,600 a year if:

you’re applying as a partner
you want to settle in the UK (get ‘indefinite leave to remain’) within 5 years
