Requesting passport return throughout application process

Post by huseyin » Tue May 21, 2019 2:14 pm

Hi,

I have a few questions in and around the application process.

1. My wife and I are aiming to make and application for a ‘family of a settled person’ visa before June 10th 2019. We have been officially married since Jan 10th 2019th. Our actual wedding ceremony will be September 15th however. We then plan to fly to Thailand for our honeymoon on September 16th 2019. Since her passport will be handed over as part of the application process, if the process is not concluded in time for our trip, are we able to request her passport back without cancelling or otherwise negatively affecting her application?

If we are unable to get back her passport without negatively affecting the application, would there be any issues with her applying for a second passport from the Turkish Government (after the uk visa application)?

Alternatively, I was also told by someone that we may be able to make a deposit payment and keep the passport. If her application is then successful, she will have 20 days to provider her passport. Is this correct? If so, how would this be affected if we were on our honeymoon on the last day required to return the passport? Would we be able to provide some kind of statement with the application which would allow us to bring in her passport on her return to Istanbul?

If the above solutions are not viable, what can we do? Do you have a recommendation?

2. In Turkey, they have a government app called "E-Devlet" which allows citizens to retrieve important documents such as. This system allows documents to be exported in English. The government will then sign and attach an "Apostille" certificate to it. Would this be an acceptable way to provide required documents for a visa application?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Ask your local vfs centre as whether they offer any service where applicant can keep its original passport until the decision for a small fee.

Housing Inspection Report

Post by huseyin » Tue May 21, 2019 3:50 pm

Hi,

I am in the process of putting together documentation for my wife's visa application. One of the things that we require is an immigration housing inspection report. The problem I have is that when I called the relevant department (Private Sector housing) in my local council to carry out the inspection, I was told that they cannot carry out the inspection as the property is a council house and they only do inspections for private properties. I was told to speak to the housing department for them to carry it out.

Thus I called the Gateshead housing company to arrange an inspection and they told me that they do not carry out these inspections on their properties as they meet the relevant standards. When pushing them further on it, they simply provided me a letter (but did not actually come out and carry out an inspection).

The letter states the following:

=================================
Dear Mr XXXX,

This is to confirm that the above property is owned by Gateshead Council, it is a 4 bedroom house and is currently occupied by

Mr XXX
Mrs XXX
Ms XXX
Ms XXX
Mr XXX

This is to confirm that the above property will not be overcrowded when the visa applicant, Mrs XXX moves in.

I would confirm that the property is a safe dwelling that meets council standards.

Yours sincerely
=================================

Would this be any good? If not, what can I do? They are refusing to carry out an actual inspection.

2019 Spouse Visa Application Process Question

Post by huseyin » Tue Jun 04, 2019 7:28 pm

Hi,

We are about to apply for my wives visa and I can't reall tell which information is new and which is old. Can someone please confirm the following to me.

In June 2019, the application process is as follow:

1. Make the application from "GOV.UK" not "VISA4UK" - I say this because the link on the GOV.UK website redirects to an online form on GOV.UK - not VISA4UK. The only reason this is a point of contention for me is because all help/guides online say to use the "VISA4UK" website. This is for an application from outside of the UK by the way.

2. Appendix 2 is no longer required? The reason I say this is because I watched a video dated Feb 2019 and on the video, the spousal visa page on the gov.uk website says "you can apply online" but afterwards it also says that Appendix 2 is also required. The same link for me no longer says anything about Appendix 2.

3. Documents are now uploaded online instead of sending them to Sheffield?

Another quick question....

Does anyone know how long you have to return your passport to TLSContact when you use their "Keep My Passport Service" (https://pos.tlscontact.com/ist_en/keep-my-passport)?

Thanks in advance

Appendix II is mandatory and should be sent along with other documents
